DR BARRY BUCHELE, MD
Dr. Buchele, our senior physician, started the Southern Pines Women’s Health Center in 1981. He attended the University of Kansas where he was a pre-med student and majored in German Literature. He then attended the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he received the Doctor of Medicine. He remained in San Antonio and completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Bexar County Hospital, the teaching hospital for the University of Texas Health Science Center. He sat for his specialty boards and is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Buchele is the owner of Southern Pines Aesthetics and Laser Institute and has performed Vaser Lipo Selection since 2007.

DR KATE SHATTENKIRK, DO
Dr. Kate Shattenkirk earned a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and earned her medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has practiced in rural areas of New York and North Carolina for 18 years.

In 2000, she incorporated Cosmetic Laser Treatments to her Family Practice. Over the past 11 years she has mastered the use of 6 Premier Candela Lasers and has extensive experience combining traditional Family Practice with Cosmetic Laser Surgery.

Dr. Shattenkirk is one of 7 Family Physicians designated nationally and internationally by the Candela Corporation to teach physicians and other healthcare professionals on the use and benefits of laser therapy. Dr. Shattenkirk is recognized statewide for her expertise and has developed a series of educational workshops and lectures for the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.  She has lectured extensively throughout Asia and Europe.  Through these workshops and lectures, she facilitates the learning of both physicians and health care professionals.

Dr. Shattenkirk is a member of many professional organizations including The American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has recently joined the staff at Southern Pines Aesthetics and Laser Institute.

BRITTANY HASTINGS, LE

DR KENDALL OLVEY, MD
Dr. Kendall Olvey has been employed at Southern Pines Women’s Health Center since September 2006. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Doctor of Medicine in 1998 from the University of Alabama School of Medicine under full scholarship from the US Navy, and also completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology there as well.  She has completed four years of active duty service in the Naval Reserve, is American board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Kendall Olvey received her training by Aesthetic Advancements, Inc in the use of Botox Cosmetic Injections and dermal fillers for facial enhancements in April 2009. Dr.Olvey specializes in these services and consultations for each individual to provide the most adequate treatment.

LYNN NALL, RN
Lynn Nall, RN, BSN graduated from Sandhills Community College and Winston Salem State University. Lynn has been employed at Southern Pines Women’s Health Center since May 1991. She became certified by Aesthetic Advancements, Inc in the use of Botox Cosmetic Injections and dermal fillers for facial enhancement in April 2009. In addition, Lynn was also trained in July 2008 by Sound Surgical along with Dr. Buchele to assist with VASER LipoSelection, an advanced body contouring procedure. Lynn specializes in these services and consultations for each individual to provide the most adequate treatment.
